| Thomas Burberry founds
Burberry's in 1853, when he was 21 years
of age.  His aim was to producing
                              innovative functional outerwear.  It
was 38 years later that the company opened
its first London shop at 30
                              Haymarket.  The company's reputation
grew and in 1913 they moved into this
building further along the street at
number 18 - 21 designed by Walter Cave. Burberry's continued to trade in Haymarket until 2007 when they moved to a new headquarters building on Horseferry Road. When these images were taken the building was empty. It has been suggested that its future may be as a luxury boutique hotel, a high-end retail outlet or as residential accommodation. | |
