Appleby Lodge
 Appleby Lodge is a lovely
complex of Art Deco flats on Wilmslow Road across from Platt Fields
Park. The flats were designed by the architectural practice of
Gunton and Gunton with collaboration from Peter Cummings, the designed
of both The Apollo and The Cornerhouse cinemas.
  Below you can see the layout of the complex in an aerial photograph from the 1940s.  This Grade II Listed building was home to Sir John Barbirolli from 1943 until 1962.  This bust of Barbirolli sits outside the Bridgewater Hall, now the home of the Hallé Orchestra.  |
