The Midway

Technically a Levenshulme pub, the Midway was the local for many Longsight residents living in the south end of the district. The 1820s map of Longsight shows an area that would be hardly recognizable by today's standards. It was a rural area of farmers' fields and very few houses. At the corner of what are now Stockport Road and Mathews Lane on the 1820 map stands Midway House. It is possible that this is the same building.
